March 2026

Tallington Flood & Drainage repairs update as at 16th March 2026.

LCC Floods and water team having liaised with the Environment Agency and the Parish council have confirmed that they will be installing an extra early warning telemetry station in and around Tallington, making 4 in total.

At the recent MAG meeting on the 4th March Anglian Water confirmed that their attempts over the last 6 months to further clear the blockages in surface water drains on the Main Road from the ‘Old Post Office’ & next to The Gables have provided mixed results and further work is still required. They are now of the opinion that the best course of action is to replace the whole surface water system. Funding for this is now being explored with LCC and others with the likely cost substantial! As previously reported they did successfully clear the Mill Lane surface water system in late December. The works done to date have resulted in releasing some of the trapped water from the Village. The priority for the Parish Council is still to get the whole length of the existing surface water system cleared /replaced by AW in conjunction with LCC and NR and working as it should to take all surface water out of the Village whether that be a full replacement or partial?

The EA have now inspected the new badger sets on the field side of the Maxey cut towards Copt hill and will be taking action at the various sites now identified. There is also evidence of a large badger set under the road at the river bridge and this has been reported to LCC to attend to. LCC works on the Main road for March were advised in last month’s report.

A more detailed report is contained in the full Annual Parish Report for 2025/26 as presented at the Annual Parish meeting on the 16th March. The report has been inserted into this edition of Towers and Spires.
